Dr Tram Nguyen is the latest recruit to the CHIMiRA Research Associate team! Before joining us in Cambridge, Tram worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Göttingen, Germany. Her career has spanned both industry and academia, having worked as an Area Geophysicist for Fairfield Geotechnologies in Vietnam before studying for a PhD in Inverse Problems at the University of Klagenfurt in Austria.
“Tram brings a wealth of interdisciplinary, industrial, and international experience to the role. Her expertise in inverse problems and machine learning is particularly well suited to a number of CHIMiRA projects, and we are really pleased to have her on the team!”. Dr Sergio Bacallado, CHIMiRA Co-Director.
“I am really looking forward to translating theoretical insights into real-world impact. The opportunity to apply my practical problem solving skills to such a wide range of applications is particular exciting.” Dr Tram Nguyen.
CHIMiRA Research Associates are a team of rapidly deployable highly experienced researchers, who work on a range of high-impact industrial and interdisciplinary projects. CHIMiRA hired its first Innovation Research Associates last year, Drs William Lee and Yuan Huang, who have already applied their mathematical skills to work on challenges as diverse as developing an alternative to GPS to using solid mechanics and AI to help prevent heart attacks. Due to the large number of projects already underway, CHIMiRA is expecting to be recruiting again soon.
