CHIMiRA is the new gateway for industry and academia to access the full breadth of mathematical expertise at the University of Cambridge. For the first time, a dedicated team of faculty-based mathematical scientists are focused on working directly with external partners to solve real-world challenges.
Our team
CHIMiRA is home to a core group of full-time Research Associates - highly skilled mathematicians with PhDs - dedicated exclusively to translational and collaborative projects. This team forms the agile core of the institute, ready to engage with partners.
Our mission
CHIMiRA is designed for challenges where mathematics can make a transformative impact. We seek collaborations with a clear pathway to real-world outcomes - particularly those that demand novel or cutting edge mathematical approaches. Our focus is on building sustainable partnerships that can evolve into joint research initiatives.
Our departments
CHIMiRA also brings together the collective expertise of over 300 world-leading mathematicians from the University of Cambridge.
